Charles James Kirk
Full name: Charles James Kirk
Born: October 14, 1993, in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
Family: His mother was a mental health counselor; his father, an architect.
Young years: He was a Boy Scout (Eagle Scout) and volunteered in the 2010 U.S. Senate campaign of Illinois Republican Mark Kirk. As a senior, he led a campaign to reverse a cookie price increase at his school.
Education: Attended Harper College but dropped out before completing a degree.
Turning Point USA (TPUSA): Co-founded in 2012 and served as Executive Director. TPUSA aimed to mobilize students to advocate conservative values: free markets, limited government, fiscal responsibility.
Other Initiatives: Founded Turning Point Action in 2019, hosted The Charlie Kirk Show, a nationally syndicated radio/podcast with a large audience.
Books: Authored several works including Time for a Turning Point (2016), Campus Battlefield (2018), The MAGA Doctrine (2020), The College Scam (2022), and Right Wing Revolution (2024).
Politically aligned with Donald Trump and the MAGA movement. He was outspoken on issues such as gun rights, abortion, LGBTQ topics, higher education, and critiques of liberal bias.
Had a large social media following and drew sizable attendance at campus events. His show reached hundreds of thousands of listeners daily.
Married Erika Frantzve in May 2021. They had two children: a daughter (born August 2022) and a son (born May 2024). He was an evangelical Christian.
On September 10, 2025, he was shot while speaking at Utah Valley University during his "American Comeback Tour." His death was described as a political assassination. President Donald Trump posthumously awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Kirk mobilized young conservatives in the U.S., becoming a prominent voice for the right. He was polarizing—praised by supporters for energy and message, but criticized for spreading misinformation and partisanship.
